Shanice King
Journalist, Influencer, and Media Personality
What started as a pursuit to become a DJ quickly turned into something bigger. A country city girl is the best way to understand the unique personality, Shani Sweets. Born in Sweet Home, Alabama, and raised by a Bronx mother, Shani experienced city and country living for an even part of her life. Growing older during the 90’s and 2000s left her inspired by moguls like Free & AJ, Ryan Seacrest, LaLa Anthony, Carson Daley, Sway Calloway, Terrance & Rocsi, and Angie Martinez. Shanice got a kickstart on her path studying Mass Communications at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Shanice is a dynamic media personality, mentor, and founder of the Pretty Girl Playbook—a platform designed to help women break generational chains, unlearn tired stigmas, and rewrite the habits that hold them back.
Her journey began on the mic at WSHA 88.9 FM, Shaw University’s campus radio station, where she first discovered her voice. That spark soon evolved into a deep passion for storytelling and broadcasting, leading her to join Most Wanted Radio and 72.9 The Voice in 2017, followed by securing commercial radio positions at Power 95.5 in Rocky Mount and HOT 97.9 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Shanice continued to level up her craft at Full Sail University, graduating as the Salutatorian of her Master’s program in Multimedia Journalism. Today, she blends her education, experience, and purpose to build platforms that speak directly to the heart of her community.
Through her work with nonprofit organizations, Shanice mentors young girls—teaching etiquette, table manners, and self-worth while creating safe spaces for growth, confidence, and connection.
The Pretty Girl Playbook is her latest venture: a journal, community, and movement inspired by the mindset of athletes and coaches—where discipline meets purpose and strategy creates transformation. Shanice uses the language of sports and the power of storytelling to equip women with the tools to face fears, remove inner blockages, and take ownership of their potential in every area of life—personally, professionally, and spiritually.
With a firm belief that no one should feel alone in their journey, Shanice continues to create spaces for people to share their truths, connect through vulnerability, and rise—together.
